Baptism
3 Reasons to be baptized:
1. To follow the examples set by Jesus.
"One day Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River" (Mark 1:9).
2. Because Christ commands.
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20).
3. It demonstrates that I really am a believer.
"...Many others in Corinth also heard Paul, became believers, and were baptized" (Acts 18:8).
What is the meaning of baptism?
1. It illustrates Christ death and resurrection.
“having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.” Colossians 2:12
2. It illustrates my new life as a Christian.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Who and when should I be baptized?
1. Who should be baptized?
Every person who has believed in Jesus. The Bible says, "Those who believed what Peter said were baptized…” Acts 2:41. The Bible also says, “Then Simon himself believed and was baptized…” Acts 8:13
2. When should I be baptized?
As soon as you have believed. There is no reason to delay. As soon as Christ has come into your life you should, you can, be baptized. If you wait until you feel perfect, you will never be baptized. Baptism is a great time to invite your friends and family to share in this spiritual experience in your life.
